With the decrease in global business travel affecting room occupancy, the five-star Al Diar Siji Hotel is banking on Mice business with special food and beverage packages to boost income.
The Fujairah property, a business hotel managed by Abu Dhabi National Hotels, is offering special packages which have brought in substantial bookings already.
General manager Fouad Melham said: “Although I believe that the tourism industry is already on its way to recovery, it is best to shift focus to alternatives to bring business to the hotel.
“For the first quarter of 2010, I am glad to say that our efforts have paid off with the number of bookings we have already received for company meetings and training, as well as weddings and other functions.”
The hotel’s Masafi Ballroom, with the capacity for up to 700 guests, was also busy towards the end of 2009 with company get-togethers.
