Airline names Bahrain manager

Qatar Airways has appointed a new area manager for Bahrain and Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.

He is Saeed Parkar, an Indian national who comes from Abu Dhabi where he was the airline's manager there.

Parkar succeeds Fathi Al Shehab who has been promoted to regional manager for Qatar and Africa and will be based in Doha.

Al Shehab, a Bahraini national, was formerly with Gulf Air.

He started his career in April 1984 as a management trainee with Gulf Air. He later joined the airline's reservation department.

Al Shehab was posted as Gulf Air's sales manager in Doha in 1987. He was promoted to manager, and after 10 years transferred to Bahrain as regional manager for the Gulf. He joined Qatar Airways in May last year.

Qatar Airways operates 15 flights a week between Doha and Bahrain, and the number will increase to 16 from May 1.

Qatar Airways now operates to 30 destinations.
