SOUTH Korea’s luxury hotel The Shilla Seoul was voted ‘Best Hotel in Seoul’ for the sixth consecutive year by travellers including travel agents and meeting planners voting on an international poll.
Zagat World’s Top Hotels, Resorts and Spas international survey was conducted on over 20,000 travellers. Shilla Seoul Hotel general manager Junghwan Kim said, “Basing the survey on ratings and reviews by frequent travellers, MICE organisers and travel agents enhances its credibility. These are the people we are committed to serve and impress.”
Zagat, operating since 1979, has a total of over 350,000 contributors to the annual survey of hotels, airlines, bars, dining, entertainment, golf, resorts and spas in over 100 countries.
Topping this year’s global hotel poll were Four Seasons George V Paris, Ritz Carlton Dallas, Peninsula hotels in Chicago, Bangkok and Hong Kong, and Four Seasons Hong Kong.
The 465-room hotel is affiliated with the Samsung Corporation and a member of The Leading Hotels of the World. It also features oriental and international art, including its outdoor sculpture garden, which has  70 large stone sculptures by 40 leading Korean artists.
The Shilla’s ‘gallery’ is now extending indoors, houses a collection of around 2,000 paintings, drawings, pottery and sculptures.
The Shilla brand has extended beyond South Korea with the management of the five-star Shilla Suzhou, a new luxury hotel in Suzhou, China.
