Jorg C Heyer has returned to Dubai after two and a half years in Egypt to take over as the new general manager of the Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort & Towers.
Jorg is no stranger to the region; he arrived in Dubai in 1993 after a two-year stint in Saudi Arabia at the Sheraton Jeddah.
From 1993 to 1997 he was the director of marketing at the Sheraton Dubai Hotel on the Creek. During this time, he also coordinated the sales and marketing activities for the Sheraton Hotels in the Gulf.
In 1997, he was promoted to deputy general manager at the Sheraton Dubai and transferred in 1999 to Egypt.
There he managed the Sheraton Miramar Resort, a 340-room designer hotel in the resort town of El Gouna on the Red Sea.
"I am very happy to be back in Dubai," said Heyer.
"Seeing that most of my old friends and customers are still here makes me feel at home."
While the construction plans for the new tower of the hotel have been postponed for two to three years, Jorg has plans for refurbishment of the existing hotel and will use his sales background to fully integrate the Sheraton Jumeirah into the Starwood hotels network.
He joined Sheraton Hotels in Munich in 1985 after graduating from a hotel school.
He is a certified hotel administrator by the AHMA and has an MBA in marketing from the Frederick Taylor University in California.
