Kandil takes the lead to with clean-up drives at Ras El Akhdar

MOINE Kandil, the general manager of Millennium Hotel Abu Dhabi, strongly believes that the hospitality industry in the UAE must adopt green policies, and that the Millennium is “definitely going in the right direction”.
He considered it as one of the leading hotels regarding this issue, adding that there are numerous ways a hotel can have an impact on the environment. The projects implemented do not necessarily have to be on a grand scale, but various facilities can be fitted to help hotels minimise the damage they could cause to the environment.
He felt that while it may not make a difference overnight, it will contribute to making a difference in the planet’s future.
Kandil introduced various green initiatives at the hotel, many of which have already been implemented. These include energy and water reduction measures, participation in clean-up drives in Abu Dhabi, implementing green awareness programmes for staff, utilising products from the UAE, recyling and others initiatives.
“I believe that there are plenty of things that individuals can do to lead an environment friendly life style even if it means by starting with tiny steps to change behavioural patterns of people. Coupled with educational campaigns and awareness programmes, we can all show high levels of commitment toward the protection of the environment.  Going green is no longer an option,” said Kandil.
The Millennium Hotel Abu Dhabi on Khalifa Street overlooking the Capital Gardens from one side and the Corniche on the other, offers 325 rooms and suites with all modern amenities including a satellite TV, electronic safe, IDD telephone and voicemail, fax, trouser press and mini bar. The hotel also has rooms for the physically challenged and specifically appointed non smoking floors.
Conference facilities include two boardrooms, two meeting rooms, a ballroom and a business centre.
Dining options include Citrus, a café serving international cuisine and special vegetarian menus, Sevilo’s offering Moroccan cuisine and Crystal, the first cigar and champagne bar in Abu Dhabi, which is now a firm feature of the hotel.
