Experience Slow Life at Zighy Bay
NESTLED in the northern Musandam Peninsula of Oman, The Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay is ideally located about 120 kms from Dubai International Airport, which is the main gateway city to resort. Visitors who have already entered Dubai do not need an Oman visa to visit the resort. The resort sits in between a secluded fishing village with mountains on one side and the Zighy Bay on the other.
The property aims to redefine experiences for the guest’s from the moment you arrive at the resort offering three choices of arrival experiences. A speed boat trip from the Dibba Sea port, driving over a steep road over the edge of the mountains overlooking the bay or to travel as a companion passenger with the Six Senses Hideaway’s professional paraglider.
The resort has 79 pool villas, two Private Retreats (popular with large families or bigger parties) and the Private reserve. The resort is designed on the lines of a traditional Omani village and the villas with its rustic décor offer a relaxed and personal environment with bathrooms extending to an outdoor shower. Each villa has its own infinity pool and some of them open up directly onto the sea. The Deluxe Spa Pool Villas have private treatment room available at an additional cost.
Personal experiences are the highlight in the resort for with a personal butler service designed to guests a give them the true Hideaway experience from arrival to departure. The Six Senses policy of getting back in touch with nature is evident in the little details like a set of his and hers bicycles to get to and fro, doorbells that work on a rope-pulley system and small earthen pots that store water at the entrances, so that guests can clean their feet before entering the villas.
The main complex or lobby area has a large pool, an artisan gallery and a DVD library offering only classic Hollywood movies and a book library.
The award-winning Six Senses Spa offers various signature holistic treatments to rejuvenate and revitalize the senses. The Spa has nine treatment rooms, a juice bar and two Arabian Hammams. A range of memorable dining alternatives are also available. 'Dining on the sand', hosts the breakfast buffet and features a different style of cuisine every day. ‘Chill’ is their newly opened bar is popular for its infused vodka drinks. The open air Deli is a great place for a light lunch and is open through the day. 'Dining on the Edge' is a stunning dining experience perched high atop the mountains overlooking the Zighy Bay. It is also a great place for pre-dinner sundowners.
A lot of activities are in the pipeline like the Traditional Zighy Souq and Barber Shop, planned to open at the entrance of the resort, leaving the guests to experience a true Omani market as they enter the resort. An organic garden is also in the pipeline. While the coast is renowned for its marine environment allowing for excellent diving and snorkelling experiences as well as excursions in the surrounding regions, the resort is ideal for guests primarily looking for some peace and relaxation.
