Stone therapy at JAL Fujairah

GUESTS walking into the newly relaunched Spa Zen in the Hotel JAL Fujairah Resort and Spa receive a warm welcome. Although not as opulent as some spas in the Middle East, it is more focused on specialised treatments and giving a personalised touch, according to assistant spa manager Krishnadasan Kalam.
There are five treatment rooms, including a double room for couples. Treatments suit all ages, starting from teenagers, and all skin types.
“We are the only spa in the Fujairah region to perform anti-ageing treatment for the body that is introduced by Pevonia Botanica, the spa exclusive treatment and crème brand famous the world over,” said Kalam.
“Our therapists are well qualified and trained by Pevonia Botanica technicians so that the treatments achieve maximum benefit from the range of products used. We have invested a lot of time and effort into our treatment menu, which is designed to meet each concern of the individual.”
“We use caviar line for face anti-ageing. The price may seem a bit expensive but we use real pearl and caviar, which contain excellent properties for highly effective anti-ageing that visibly works against wrinkles and lines,” said Kalam.
Lying about 135 kilometres from Dubai, the Spa Zen does have its limitations in terms of accessibility, but there are regular clients visiting on a monthly basis. These clients generally stay the night and take the hotel’s a-la-carte in room dining experience. “We are finding this type of client gradually increasing,” said Kalam.
One of Spa Zen’s signature massages is a treatment using hot stones called ‘Sabai’, the Thai expression for well being. The treatment consists of a massage using heated stones of varying shapes, placed on different area’s of the body and combining different oils depending on the ailment of the client.
