Qatar grows air links to Houston

Travel between Texas and the Gulf region is set to take off even more so with the launch of Qatar Airways’ third US route to Houston from Doha on March 30.
The airline will launch this daily route following the success of the New York and Washington DC flights in 2007. A Boeing 777-200 long range aircraft will be used, and passengers travelling by business or first class will be able to use the premium class terminal at Doha International Airport. The dedicated terminal has its own duty-free shopping, business and dining areas and the first class lounge offers spa treatments.
In 2007 nearly four per cent of travellers (or 24,000 out of a total of 620,000 visitors) from the Middle East to the USA included a stay in Texas in their trip. Travellers to Texas from Doha arrive at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, one of three airports making up Houston Airport System (HAS). William P Hobby Airport and Ellington Field are the two other airports of the HAS, which served nearly 52 million passengers in 2007.
