Hertz UAE announces new managers

Hertz UAE has  appointed  several new  managers to assist with the company’s growth. Paul Milne (left) becomes business unit finance manager and will oversee finance related activities. Neil Parkins will be fleet operations manager and Radka Plunderova will join as international business development manager.

 

 

Promotions at Langham Hotels International

Langham Hotels Inter-national has promoted two senior executives to vice president. Winston Suen (left) is now VP, corporate engineering and Patrick Wong VP, projects – signalling the leadership of both to ensure a consistent look and product quality in each of the new hotels joining the LHI portfolio.

 

 

GM moves at Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts

Jean Stéphane Grasset (left) is the new general manager of Mövenpick Resort & Spa Mauritius. He succeeds John Wood who is now responsible for Mövenpick Resort & Spa El Gouna. Alain Chatel leads the Mövenpick Hotel & Resort Beirut. All general managers took up their new positions last month.

 

Reed Exhibitions appoints Malik

Atif Farid Malik has been appointed to the position of sales manager for Reed Travel Exhibitions Meeting & Incentives Portfolio, based in Dubai. Malik will overlook shows including GIBTM at ADNEC as well as EIBTM in Spain, CIBTM in China and AIME in Australia.

 

 

Royal Jet strengthens top management

Royal Jet continues to gear up for its fleet expansion with a change to its senior management structure.  Nizzar Jazzar (left) is vice president Aircraft Project Engineering & Business Development from his previous position as VP of Maintenance and Engineering; whilst Mohammed Eturki, is now vice president Technical.

 

 

Cooper appointed as VP

Kent Cooper has been appointed vice president, regional hotel sales for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Middle East and Africa. He joined the Fairmont group in 1999 at The Plaza in New York. In 2007, he was promoted to executive director, sales and marketing, Middle East & Africa.

 

 

Waller joins Sheraton Deira

Francois Waller is the newly appointed general manager at the Sheraton Deira Hotel, Dubai. Waller brings with him 10 years of experience with Starwood Hotels & Resorts. He was previously with Sheraton Amman Al Nabil Hotel & Towers in Amman, Jordan as deputy general manager.

 

 

Emaar appoints Grant as polo manager

Emaar Hospitality Group has appointed Philip Grant as general manager of Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club. A qualified riding instructor; he is in the process of implementing several equestrian activities in the Middle East in line with the British Horse Society protocols.

 

Promotion for IHG’s Stamper

InterContinental Hotels Group has promoted Simon Stamper to area general manager for InterContinental Abu Dhabi and Inter-Continental Al Ain. He was previously general manager at the largest Holiday Inn in EMEA, the Holiday Inn London Kensington Forum.

 

 

New GM at Dubai based Radisson SAS

The Rezidor Hotel Group has appointed Pasquale Baiguera as new general manager for the Radisson SAS Dubai Media City. Baiguera joins from the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark, where he served as general manager for over 18 months.

 

Homenidis joins Jumeira Rotana

Rotana Hotels Suites and Resorts have recently appointed Yannis Homenidis as the new general manager of Jumeira Rotana Dubai. Yannis most recently served as a resident manager of Towers Rotana. He has a strong background in food and beverage, and previously worked at Al Bustan Rotana.

 

 

Reiher directs IHG operations

InterContinental Hotels Group has appointed Carsten Reiher as director of operations for IHG Jordan and Palestine. He will also take on the general manager’s role for the upcoming Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn Dead Sea properties. Reiher brings with him over 20 years experience.

 

 

Makhlouf appointed at Beach Rotana

The Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi recently appointed Ziad Makhlouf as director of Human Resources for the hotel. Having moved to the Gulf from Lebanon, Makhlouf previously worked as HR manager at the Towers Rotana Dubai and as director of HR at Amwaj Rotana Resort Dubai.

 

 

Chi Hotels & Resorts appoints Carroll

Glenn Carroll has become senior vice president for sales and marketing for CHI Hotels & Resorts (formerly Corinthia Hotels International. Carroll has been group sales and marketing director for Como Hotels & Resorts and vice president sales and marketing Europe for Oberoi Hotels & Resorts.

 

 

New role for Melhem

Rabih Melhem has been appointed executive assistant manager at the Media Rotana Dubai, due to open in November. Melhem began his career with the Hyatt Hotels and Resorts after achieving eight years of F&B experience. He was instrumental in opening the new extension of Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi.

 

 

Promotion for Saleh

Dori Mounir Saleh has been promoted as the executive assistant manger at the Mövenpick Hotel Kuwait. Saleh began his career in 1999 and has moved within various departments including F&B, projects, management and leadership experience. Among his roles was the project of refurbishing the hotel kitchen.

 

 

New team at Amman hotel

The Four Seasons Hotel Amman has appointed two new members to its management team, Olivier Thomas as hotel manager and Halla Rafati as director of public relations. Thomas’ 16 years in the hospitality industry includes hotels such as The Hotel Palace in Milan and The Savoy in London.

 

 

Two Bonnington appointments

Martin Kubler has been appointed as director of operations for the Bonnington Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Dubai, scheduled to open early 2009. Kubler previously worked at Ramada Plaza, Doha. Mustafa Drief has been appointed F&B director at the property. A major part of Drief’s career was spent with Starwood Hotels.

 

 

Emirates’ executives appointed to new roles 

Emirates Airline has appointed three UAE nationals: Nabil Sultan has been appointed SVP for commercial operations in Europe; Adnan Kazim (left) has taken over as SVP, commercial operations for the Gulf, ME and Iran; and Salem Obaidalla is now SVP, commercial operations for Africa, West Asia and Indian Ocean.

 

 

Etihad appoints VP flight operations

Etihad Airways has appointed Captain Christoph Schippel as the airline’s new vice president flight operations. Captain Schippel will also oversee preparations for flight operations to new Etihad destinations, and manage the airline’s 675 pilots and its growing aircraft fleet.
