The Singapore Embassy has appointed Omeir Travel, a leading travel agency based in Abu Dhabi, as its visa processing agency for the Emirate to ease visa applications for the growing number of UAE-based business and leisure travellers visiting Singapore.
In the first half of 2008, visitor numbers from the UAE to Singapore was up nearly 24 percent from 2007, proving a need for additional visa processing facilities.
Omeir Travel in Abu Dhabi is the latest Singapore visa processing agency following the appointment of VSA Versatile Service Agency, Uranus Travel & Tours (LLC) and VFS Global in Dubai earlier this year.
Low Pit Chen, charge d'affaires of the Singapore Embassy in Abu Dhabi said: “The appointment of Omeir Travel Agency as our visa agent in Abu Dhabi is another step to facilitate the fast-growing ties between Singapore and Abu Dhabi and positioning Singapore as the ideal destination for UAE travellers.”
“There has been a growth in the exchanges at a government-to-government level as well as deepening economic partnerships between Abu Dhabi and Singapore in the past year, especially with the opening of the Singapore Embassy in Abu Dhabi earlier this year. This is mutually beneficial to both countries and we look forward to an increase in the number of both business and leisure travellers,” added Chen.
While UAE nationals do not need visas to visit Singapore, citizens of a range of countries across the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia require one.
