Le Royal Beirut planting trees to boosts tourism

Le Royal Hotel made a pledge for 2008 to help replant Lebanon after the devastating forest fires of last summer. This initiative kicked off at the end of 2007, and continues until the end of this year.
With the environment in mind, Le Royal staff initially organised a fund raising event in collaboration with AFDC, to help plant trees to replace those ravaged by the fires that had hit Lebanon’s countryside. The property took over the greening of a large piece of protected land, called Le Royal Garden, by involving its hotel guests in this project. Through special gift packages on food and accommodation that each guest can buy, Le Royal will plant a tree in the guest’s name.
The hotel’s management team believed the project would strengthen its commitment to the country’s ecology and encourage tourism and environmental awareness within Lebanon. Under the slogan of “Help Keep Lebanon Green: Adopt a Tree”, Le Royal aimed to have replanted one hectare of land within 2008.
