A glittering closing ceremony capped by a spectacular display of fireworks brought the curtain down on month-long Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) 2001, held during March.
Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Defence Minister General Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who attended the festivities at Creek Park, announced that DSF 2002 will be held from March 1 to 31 under the same theme: 'One World, One Family, One Festival'.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of various awards - Innovation Awards, Global Village Awards, Special Awards, and the Ideal Mother and Ideal Family Awards.
The ceremony opened with a symbolic parade of flags of different nations, complemented by the festival song and featured glimpses of DSF 2001 highlights, Aqua Fantasia and fireworks.
Dubai Police Chief Major General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, speaking on behalf of the DSF Supreme Committee, praised the theme that allowed Dubai to extend its arms to invite the world to join a family celebration.
