Bexair to open temporary terminal at Bahrain airport
A private aviation company was set to open a temporary terminal at Bahrain International Airport.Work on Bahrain Executive Air Services Company (Bexair) aviation terminal and operations centre, located between Civil Aviation Affairs (CAA) and the airport's VIP terminal, began in late July. The $500,000 facility, which has been constructed by Charilaos Apostolides Bahrain, was set to be operational on October 31. It will include VIP lounges, meeting rooms and support services offices, including the necessary set-up for security, Customs and immigration, said Bexair chairman and chief executive Mansour Al Tassan. The temporary facility is part of a $85 million plan to create the largest specialised air charter company in the Gulf. Bexair will offer a range of aviation services, including aircraft handling and turn-around flights, charter flights, aircraft management, operation and maintenance, as well as an ambulance service. It will initially have a Challenger 604 and a Citation XL aircraft in service. The company, which was established more than a year ago, chose Bahrain as its regional headquarters after inspecting a number of other regional airports. Bexair officials described CAA and BIA as "innovative" and "aggressive" in their efforts to attract new aviation business. They said Bahrain's "fast-track" methods for company registration also clinched the deal. Company consultants are also working with CAA to design and construct a permanent facility as part of BIA's long-term expansion and development. Bexair opened its administrative centre last month on the 10th floor of the Sheraton Tower. The company will debut two of its new aircraft at the Dubai Air Show, which opens at Dubai International Airport on November 4.
