The total tourism income in Turkey increased by 6.5 per cent in the first nine months of 2007 compared to the same period for 2006, bringing in $14 billion in revenue, according to figures from the Turkish Statistics Institute.
A total of 21.4 million visitors were expected to arrive in the country by the end of 2007. The top-ten arrivals of foreigners came from respectively, Germany, the United Kingdom, Russian Federation, Netherlands, Bulgaria, Iran, U.S.A, France, Italy and Georgia. These top ten countries shared 63,9 per cent of the total arriving foreign visitors.
