Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has named Alex Kassatly general manager of the Fairmont Towers in Cairo, scheduled to open this year. He will also overlook the operations of the adjacent Fairmont-operated Hotel Heliopolis.
Promotions at Al Manshar Rotana
Mohamed Soussan has been promoted to the position of executive assistant general manager at the Al Manshar Rotana Hotel in Kuwait. He was previously area director of sales and marketing for the GCC for Rotana Hotels in Kuwait.
Greer set to market Miramar Al Aqah
Gillian Greer has been appointed sales and marketing director at the soon-to-open Miramar Al Aqah Beach Resort, Fujairah. She moves from the UK where she has worked with brands like Jumeirah, Leading Hotels of the World, Le Meridien and Forte Hotels.
Promotions at Hyatt Regency Dubai
The Hyatt Regency Dubai has announced two promotions: Juan Mercadante (pictured), formerly director of rooms, is now executive assistant manager. Roger Saad takes over as associate director of sales from his previous position as sales manager.
Becea at Millennium Sharjah
Nancy Becea has been named senior sales manager at the Millennium Hotel Sharjah. She started her career at the Athenee Palace Bucharest Hilton in front office and has previous work experience in Kuwait and New York.
Rosewood Hotels appoints Leitzke
Rosewood Corniche Jeddah has announced the appointment of Hans-Peter Leitzke as hotel general manager.
Leitzke joined the hospitality group in 2005 as hotel manager for Hotel Al Khozama, A Rosewood Hotel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
New appointments at Rotana
Rotana Hotels, Suites and Resorts has named Hani Mansour general manager for the Villa, Rihab and Rimal Rotana Suites in Dubai. The company has also named Gemmy Dimitry hotel manager of the Rihab Rotana Suites. Dimitry moves from the Rimal Rotana.
Papke at Banyan Tree Desert Spa
Waike Papke has been appointed director of sales and marketing at the Banyan Tree Desert Spa & Resort, Bahrain. She takes charge from the Swissotel in Moscow where she held the position of director of sales, revenue and marketing.
Morley heads to Muscat
The InterContinental Hotels Group has appointed Simon Morley as the new resident manager of the Al Bustan Palace InterContinental Muscat, Oman. He has worked with the brand in Seoul and at the group’s Al Ain hotel.
El Khoury joins Renaissance Dubai
Ziad El Khoury is now director of rooms at the Renaissance Dubai Hotel. He has several years’ experience and has worked previously at JW Marriott hotels in Kuwait and Dubai and was part of the opening team at the Courtyard by Marriott Green Community.

Reda Moukthar has returned to Dubai after three years in Abu Dhabi, as general manager of the soon-to-open Millennium Burooj Suites Dubai. He has spent over 25 years with Sheraton in Egypt, Oman and the UAE.
Rezidor appoints Loupasis
Rezidor has appointed Panos Loupasis as the Middle East regional director of business development. He was earlier at Hospitality Management Services ME. He came to the region in 2003 with the launch team for the Accor hotels at Dubai World Trade Centre.

Mohan Krishnan, previously financial controller at the Millennium Hotel Abu Dhabi has been promoted to regional financial controller for the brand in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah after five years’ of service with the hotel group.

Michael Naber has been appointed F&B manager at the Sheraton Bahrain Hotel. He moves from the Crowne Plaza Hotel Marlow in the UK. He has worked at several leading hotels in Germany, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and the UK.
Etihad appoints VP Sales
Etihad Airways has named Adrian Parkes its new vice-president for sales. Adrian joins Etihad from the British carrier, bmi, where he spent 11 years and held the positions of commercial director, sales director and general sales manager.
