QUALIA, Australia’s newest and most exclusive world-class resort on Hamilton Island, the Great Barrier Reef, has opened its doors.
The resort is an important addition to the premium end of the Australian accommodation market and provides a new reason for domestic and international travellers to consider Australia as a destination for their next luxury getaway.
Only two to three hours non-stop flight time from Australia’s major east coast cities, qualia is located on the secluded but breathtakingly beautiful northern-most point of the island.
In opening the resort, Bob and Sandy Oatley commented, “Australia needs a new luxury resort of the highest quality to maintain its competitive position in the international marketplace.”
Tourism Queensland CEO Anthony Hayes agreed saying, “Qualia will set a new benchmark in our world class luxury products. The opening of this resort is great news for Queensland.”
Qualia offers a distinctively Australian experience with the outstanding facilities and uncompromising service that guests expect from a premium resort. Said the Oatleys: “We firmly believe the tranquil surroundings of the destination will be an opportunity for our guests to escape from their stressful everyday lives for an extended weekend. They may also wish to participate in some of the amazing tours designed to take advantage of our location, one of the world’s most sought after destinations: such as cruising the Whitsunday Islands, Heli tours to Heart Reef or Whitehaven Beach; and snorkelling amongst some the world’s most colourful tropical fish.”
Qualia features 60 elegant private one bedroom pavilions accessible only to the resort’s guests. The Windward Pavilions include their own plunge-pools. The Leeward Pavilions delight guests with their sense of space and meticulous design features.
The Qualia Beach House offers sweeping views of the Coral Sea. It offers a spacious bedroom, extensive entertaining area, and private full-size swimming pool in the main pavilion. It also has a separate guest pavilion.
Other facilities include a gym on the water’s edge, two serene pools, a stunning library and a six-room spa.
Qualia’s Pavilions open with a special rate of A$1400 per night for those without a pool and upwards.
