A new exclusive hide-away opens in exotic Maldives this month offering an escape into the world of nature and luxury.
The Soneva Gili Resort and Spa, being developed by Six Senses Hotels and Resorts Ltd, will offer guests "elegance on water", surrounded by white sand beaches and rich coral reefs.
Soneva Gili builds on the enormous success of the Soneva Fushi Resort & Spa which opened in 1995 on a private island west of the Maldives capital of Male.
The new resort which will retain the focus on deep sea diving, sea sports and spa therapies, has been developed as a 44-villa luxury water villa development on the Male Atoll.
The resort offers 29 water villa suites, nine water villa residence and six "stand alone" water villa residences with the residences being at least 25 metres away from the nearest building and accessible only by raft.
The suites too will ensure maximum privacy, said a hotel spokesman.
The developers have taken "utmost care" to ensure that ecological balance is maintained at the resort and the interior dŽcor aims to recreate a natural habitat using sustainable woods, natural materials and traditional fabrics while offering all modern amenities and comforts.
Soneva Gili has a fully equipped diving school with professional instructors to train guests to be PADI certified divers in less than a week.
The resort will also offer a range of activities including deep sea fishing in traditional "dhonis" (boats), snorkelling, water skiing, wind surfing, hobie cat sailing, canoeing.
Other facilities include an air-conditioned gym, volleyball, badminton and tennis courts, boules and jogging track, board games such as chess and video and CD library.

The spa offers a range of massage treatments including Swedish, Thai, Shiatsu, Sports, Connective Tissue, Detoxifying Body, Aroma Indulgence, Ear Acupuncture and Reflexology.
