El-Hage take charge in Sharjah
Selim El-Hage has been named general manager at the new Golden Tulip, Sharjah.

He takes charge from his previous position as general manager of the Janna Spa and Resort in Jordan.  A hotelier with 20 years of experience in hotels, he has held senior management positions in Turkey, Bahrain, Dubai and Yemen. He joined Flamingo Hotels in 2005.

Promotions at The Ritz-Carlton, Doha
Thorsten Ries (left) general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Doha has been promoted to area general manager, Qatar. Ries will also be overseeing the newly opened Sharq Village and Spa.
Thierry Grandsire, executive assistant manager, rooms division of the hotel has been promoted to hotel manager. He joined the Ritz-Carlton in 1989.

Crowne Plaza move for Todd
The InterContinental Hotels Group has  appointed David Todd general manager at the Crowne Plaza Muscat in Oman. Todd has been with the group for over five years, holding positions at properties in Birmingham and Edinburgh,  in Cairo, and most recently was resident manager at the Al Bustan Palace InterContinental Muscat in Oman.

Dusit Dubai welcomes Francis
Michael N Francis has been appointed marketing and com-munications manager for the Dusit Dubai. Francis has previously worked with many cultures in several countries around the world. He has experience within the travel and hospitality industry, marketing communications and sports and event marketing.

Mercure welcome Al-Kateb
The Mercure Grand Hotel Seef, Bahrain, has announced Bashar Al-Kateb as director of sales & marketing. He brings with him more than eight years experience in sales and marketing, having worked at major properties in Qatar, Bahrain and  Saudi Arabia. The appointment is in addition to his regional and overseas tasks.

Kropf moves on up at Beach Rotana
The Beach Rotana Hotel & Towers Abu Dhabi has recently announced the promotion of Alain Kropf to the position of resident manager. He joined Rotana Hotels in 2005 as executive assistant manager for the Beach Rotana, bringing with him extensive experience earned in Hong Kong, Switzerland and Oman.

Mokhtar promoted at Conrad Cairo
The Conrad Cairo has announced the promo-tion of Naser Mokhtar (left) to director of business development. He joined Conrad Cairo as part of its opening team, as the director of sales, later being named director of sales & marketing.
The hotel also recently appointed Antoine Pravin as its manger of food and beverage for the hotel.

IHG appoints Kassab
The InterContinental Hotels Group has appointed François Kassab its area director of finance and business support for Oman.
Based at the Al Bustan Palace InterContinental Muscat, he will manage financial operations across the group’s portfolio of properties in the Sultanate, including hotels in Muscat and Salalah.

New GM at Vision Hotel Apartments
Richard Haddad has been named general manger at Vision Hotel Apartments in Abu Dhabi. He moves from his position as resident manager at the Millennium Hotel Doha. He has also worked with the Monroe Hotels and Al Bustan Hotel in Lebanon; the Radisson SAS Resort Aqaba; Corinthia Bab Africa in Tripoli; and Le Royal Meridien, Bahrain.

News from the Safir Heliopolitan
New appointments have been made at the Safir Heliopolitan Hotel, Beirut. Rolana Habchy (left) has been appointed senior sales executive. She moves from the Grand Hotel Kadri.
Nada Kastoun has been appointed human resources supervisor. She is new to hospitality but has 11 years’ experience in sales and consultancy.

New appointments at Marriott Dubai
JW Marriott Dubai has named Paul Rushton as its new director of sales and marketing. He was earlier director of marketing at The Peninsula Bangkok.
Courtyard by Marriott Dubai Green Community has appointed Michelle Telfer (above) its the new director of Human Resources. She joined Marriott Edinburgh in 2004 as HR manager.

Tayoun joins InterCon Doha
Sayed Tayoun has recently been appointed director of sales at the Inter-Continental Doha.
 He joins the Inter-Continental Doha from Dubai, where he worked in the Rotana Hotels & Resorts area sales office since 2002. He brings with him experience in the food and beverage and front office departments.

Gulf Air gets new COO
Gulf Air has named Bjِrn Nنf (left) its chief operating officer. Nنf began his career in 1990 with airline pilot training in the US and Switzerland.  He joins Gulf Air from Transafrik International, Kenya, and has previously been with Crossair and Swiss.
 Abdulmalik Al-Saei has been appointed general manager, Bahrain.

New name at Gulf Oasis Tourism
Samer Asaad has been appointed as director of sales for Gulf Oasis Tourism.
He takes charge from his previous position with Desert Adventures Tourism in Dubai, where he overlooked the visa section and the operations department. He has also previously been managing director with Dubai Oasis Rent A Car.

New roles at Minor International
Minor International, a leading Asian dev-eloper and operator, has promoted Jonathan Wigley to vice-president, operations. He was earlier group general manager for Marriott Hotels, Thailand.
John Griffin (above) has been named vice-president, marketing. He will oversee global marketing  for thebrand  Anantara brand.
