The success of a 2006 tourist promotion offering visitors one free night if they stay for two has prompted its extension into 2007.
ZurichBreak, as the programme is called, was believed responsible a 15 per cent increase in overnight stays last yaer, as compared to 2005. Due to this resounding success, Zürich Tourism has decided to extend this special offer for a further year, says a statement from the tourist board.
A total of 16 hotels are now inviting guests to stay an extra third night free of charge, thus enabling them to enjoy even more of Zürich and the surrounding region at no additional cost. New additions to the list of hotels participating are the Eden au Lac, Swissôtel, Engimatt, Seefeld and the Romantik Seehotel Sonne.
With 72 hours scarcely sufficient to get to know all of Zürich’s various facets, hotels are offering a 33 per cent reduction on the regular rates for every ZürichBreak night on top of that. ZürichBreak is, among other things, ideal for anyone wishing to enjoy a long weekend in the city, or, combined with the city’s excellent connectivity, it can be tagged onto longer holidays in other popular destinations such as Geneva, Zell am See or Vienna.
Hotels offering the deal include the five-star Eden au Lac, the four-star superior Best Western Hotel Glockenhof and Swissôtel; four-star Engimatt, Opera and Rigihof; three-star superior Seefeld and Seidenhof; three-star Basilea, Comfort Inn Royal, Du Théâtre and Rütli; and the two-star Starn Oerlikon.
Hotel rates begin from CHF180 ($148.9) and are offered per person in a double room, comprising three nights’ accommodation, excluding city tax. The number of rooms per hotel is limited and prices at individual hotels may vary. The scheme is valid until January 3 and bookings can be made at www.zuerich.com/zuerichbreak.
