Ticket requests for next year’s UEFA Euro 2008, to be held in Austria and Switzerland, have been have oversubscribed by as many as 18 times more than were ordered for the last tournament in Portugal.
More than half a million football fans from 142 countries have ordered a total of 10.3 million tickets. The applications are now being processed. Because of the huge overbooking of tickets for all matches, the second sales phase for any remaining tickets that was provisionally envisaged for June 2007 will no longer take place. A further possibility of getting tickets will be provided by the football associations of countries taking part in the final round, who will be able to sell their ticket quota after the draw in December.
