The Riffa Golf Club in Bahrain has promoted Aine Mangan as its director of sales and marketing.

Mangan, who has been with the club since before its opening in 1999, was previously sales and marketing manager.

General manager Michael Braidwood said the move was indicative of Riffa's philosophy of promoting from within to create a strong management team.

The club has this year promoted two other staff to key positions, those of course superintendent and golf shop manager.

"We also recognised the need to add to our sales and marketing team in order to achieve our marketing goals for the year 2002," he said.

"Aine has proved herself to be a highly motivated and extremely able manager capable of developing first class marketing strategies.

"She is an excellent ambassador for the Club and we want to capitalise on those attributes by allowing her more time to concentrate on directing new promotions, while managing the sales team."

Mangan will head a sales and marketing team that includes sales managers Fuad Al Gillidary and newly-appointed Maeve Russell, as well as sales co-ordinator Sue Walters, who has also recently joined the Riffa staff.

"I'm very excited about my new role," Mangan said.

She said the club was "poised to enter a new period of development, with a number of significant investments planned that will reinforce its position as one of Bahrain's premier sports, leisure and corporate entertainment facilities".

"My job is to drive revenue with a strong marketing initiative for 2002. Planning for that is already well advanced and I'm delighted to have the support of a sound marketing team."

Irish-born Mangan studied hotel management in Dublin and underwent further graduate training with Forte Hotels and worked for both Forte and Hilton Hotels in London for six years, joining Riffa from the Diplomat Hotel, Bahrain.
