French lodges offer luxury mountain retreat

Share

Exhibiting at ATM this year is Lodge Montagnard (Mountain Lodge), an exclusive collection of luxury chalets and hotel suites in Megève and Chamonix, overlooking the spectacular Mont Blanc peaks, barely one hour’s drive from Geneva International Airport.

The group offers three luxury properties, all offering majestic views over Mont Blanc. Le Hameau de Mavarin and Chalet Reine des Prés in Megève, the most glamorous village of the Mont Blanc country, and Les Granges d’en Haut in the Chamonix Valley for a mythical encounter with the Mont Blanc.
Designed by architect Bernard Ferrari in the pure tradition of 18th century mountain villages and barns, the properties are elegantly decorated.
Chalets can be booked for four to eight people, and are priced at 11,840 euros ($16,093) for a week’s stay on a half-board basis. Each chalet comes with all the modern conveniences, including a private sauna, ski room, two widescreen TVs with satellite channels, CD and DVD players, wireless internet, fully equipped kitchen and laundry room and in-room safe. Airport transfers and car rentals can be arranged on request.
The properties offer summer and winter activity schedules. In the summer, mountain experts will guide guests and help them push their limits with a series of adventures, including rafting, hiking, paragliding, climbing, trekking on a glacier, canyoning, horse riding in the verdant mountains or exploring the mountain in a 4x4.
In winter, the appeal is in skiing the famous Vallée Blanche, a glacier with 20km pistes; seeking off-piste opportunities within ‘Les Grands Montets’; boarding a helicopter or a hot air balloon for a tour over the Mont Blanc; climbing the Mont Blanc with an experienced guide; or a family snowshoe excursion.
Other facilities and attractions include ski and golf arrangements, gourmet afternoon tea, gourmet French food, and spa treatments at the Silver Spa. More at www.lodgemontagnard.com
