Visitors to the Malaysian capital can now view the city from double-decker buses, a service that runs in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2007.
The KL Hop-on Hop-off bus is a convenient and efficient linkage between major tourist attractions in the city. Tourists can enjoy their visit without having to drive, pay tolls and park vehicles.
The bus service operates at 30-minute intervals from 8.30am to 8.00pm daily on a circular loop, beginning and ending at the same point. En route, there are more than 40 tourist attractions and passengers can hop on or off at any of the 22 designated stops.
Each bus has a driver assisted by a tour assistant. The newly launched double-decker bus with air-condition comes equipped with CCTV and disabled-friendly facilities. A city guide pamphlet is given to everyone who boards the bus.
The tour offers a pre-recorded commentary of the major sights and attractions in the city in eight languages, including English, Hindi, Arabic, French and German.
Tickets can be purchased on the bus, through the internet or at appointed hotels. A standard ticket for an adult is RM38 ($10.8).
Attractions on or around the route include the Karyaneka Craft Center, Sungai Wang Plaza, Lot 10 mall, Bintang Walk, Berjaya Times Square, Ain Arabia, KL Tower, China Town, Central Market, Sri Mahamariamman Temple, Merdeka Stadium, National Palace, National Museum, Royal Selangor Club, Parliament House, Petronas Twin Tower, Kuala Lumpur City Centre, the Orchid Garden and the bird and butterfly parks.
