‘A great deal of optimism’
December 2006 10

Mood for 2007?
We enter 2007 with a great deal of optimism for the Middle East and Africa markets. Fuelled by industry wide growth throughout 2006, we are confident that the markets in which our hotels are located will continue to be buoyant for the foreseeable future.
This level of optimism will come as no great surprise to anyone. During Arabian Travel Market in 2006, our team announced a large growth in roomnights and hotel development and we continue to press on with expansion.
We look forward to an excellent 2007 full of expansion, announcements and of course challenges and we are sure that the Middle East and Africa will continue to be a vibrant and developing market for many years to come.

New openings?
Three new Hotels in Qatar will open in 2007. The Renaissance Doha City Centre, Courtyard by Marriott and Marriott Executive Apartments, will be a fabulous addition to downtown Doha and a much needed supply of rooms for an already burgeoning occupancy level.
In 2007 we will open the brand new Marriott Executive Apartments in Bahrain.
