Van Maaswaal named COO
Golden Tulip Hotels & Resorts has announced the appointment of Kees Van Maaswaal as chief operating officer from January 2007.

Van Maaswaal is currently managing director of Accor Hotels for the Netherlands. Van Maaswaal joined the Accor Group 1982 with IBIS. Since 2003 he is in charge for all Accor hotels in The Netherlands.

New appointments at Festival City
The InterContinental Hotels Group has appointed Christian Pertl its new director of sales and marketing for their new Dubai Festival City proper-ties. Pertl was previously area director of sales and marketing for the group’s Austrian and Slovakian hotels. Angel Magdalani has been appointed as the director of human resources for the Dubai Festival City hotels.

Hoed goes to Four Points, Dubai
Four Points by Sheraton Bur Dubai has appointed Martin Hoed as food and beverage manager at the hotel. Martin started his career at the Sheraton Amsterdam Airport Hotel & Conference Centre in accounting but later moved to F&B and worked his way up to assistant food and beverage manager before moving to international territories.

New names at Renaissance Dubai
Rashmi Chittal has been appointed the new PR and marketing manager at the Renaissance Dubai Hotel. She moves from the Radisson SAS Dubai Hotel, Media City where she was PR and marketing manager. Jon Dumaguing has been appointed as group system manager and Kismet Kapur (above) is the new restaurant manager of the Sails restaurant.

Radisson Kuwait appoints Eilertsen
Radisson SAS Hotel Kuwait, has appointed Jan Petter Eilertsen its new general manager. Eilertsen joined the company in 1984 at the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel in Bergen, Norway. He moved to the Radisson SAS Hotel in Beijing, where he was executive assistant manager and then returned to Europe as general manager of the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen.

Janna Spa appoints Shennara
Marwan Shennara has been appointed as the new director of sales at the Janna Spa & Resort, Jordan.
Shennara brings 10 years of experience, having worked with Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts Jordan as regional sales manager. He has received accolades for his contribution during the World Economic Forum in 2003 and 2004.

Miraton joins Coral International
Michel Miraton has joined the corporate team at Coral Inter-national as the corporate executive chef in-charge of all kitchen operations for the group.
He previously worked with the Le Meridien group for 16 years, the Holiday Inn for seven years and the Accor Group for one year, before joining Coral International.

Kurian joins OctopusTravel
OctopusTravel has appointed Bency Kurian to head the Dubai office and to develop the company’s business in the MENA region. Kurian has been working for leading travel companies including Gulf Air, Kuwait Airways, KLM and Emirates Group.  Most recently he was regional business development manager for Holiday Autos ME.

Hendrian for Hyatt Regency Dubai
Hyatt Regency Dubai’s team welcomed the hotel’s new general manager, Andrew Hendrian. Hendrian began his career in India and Iraq before joining Hyatt Regency Cologne in1989. He was also part of the pre opening team of Grand Hyatt Dubai up to 2004 and then rejoined the team at Hyatt Regency Cologne as general manager

New team joins Mina Seyahi
Réda Sebbar (left) has joined Le Meridien Mina Seyahi as the director of conference and banqueting. He moves from the Jeddah Hilton, where he was in a similar capacity. Madan Mohan Nagpal has joined the corporate sales team at the hotel. His previous assignments were with the Oberoi Rajvilas in India, the Burj Al Arab and the Habtoor Grand Resort & Spa.

Dusit Dubai names executive chef
Dusit Dubai announces the appointment of executive chef Philippe Bischoff. Chef Philippe will be responsible for overseeing all food and beverage outlets of the hotel.
From the Middle East to South Africa and more recently in Asia, he has been working in five-star properties learning and developing his culinary skills in diverse cultures.

New team at InterCon Doha
Carlos Malliaroudakis (left)  has recently joined the Inter-Continental Doha as hotel manager. He was previously EAM at the InterContinentalAqaba
Antoine Flouty has been named the hotel’s director of food and beverage, moving from the InterContinental Phoenicia. Mariam Owens has taken up the position of communications and branding manager.

Ali to head marketing team
Grand Hyatt Amman announced the promotion of Lubna Ali to the position of head of marketing department from her previous role as marketing communications manager. Ali worked with Switzerland’s Beau Rivage Palace hotel, before returning to Jordan. She then joined the team of Grand Hyatt Amman in 2005 as a sales and marketing executive.

Saleh joins Radisson SAS, Bahrain
The Diplomat Radisson SAS Hotel has appointed Dani Saleh as director of revenue.
Saleh moves to his new post from the Sheraton Kuwait Hotel & Towers where he held the position of director of revenue for the Sheraton and Four Points Hotel as well as overseeing both Le Meridian properties located in Kuwait.

Chef Nabati joins Grand Regency
The Grand Regency Hotel, Doha, has  recently appointed Chef Jamil Nabati, as its executive chef.
Chef Nabati has been wowing guests of the Regency group with his sharp culinary skills for the last five years. He was until recently the sous chef at the Regency Hotel, Amman.
He has also worked at the Sheraton Amman Hotel.

Moukarzel at Mövenpick Bahrain
Elias Moukarzel is the new food and beverage manager at the Mövenpick Hotel Bahrain.
A student of the Ecole Hoetellier De Toulouse in France, Elias has served with the Hilton and Metropolitan group of hotels in Europe.
His most recent stints were in the Middle East with Crowne Plaza and Sheraton properties.

New staff at Monroe Beirut
The Monroe Hotel, Beirut has appointed Hady Safa (left) as its corporate director of human resources.
Joyce Mouawad has taken charge as corporate director of sales and marketing. Ziad Nohra is the new corporate director of food and beverage and will overlook the operations of the F&B outlets within the groups’ portfolio.

New Executive chef at Four Seasons
Paul Doyle was recently appointed executive sous chef at the Four Seasons Hotel Amman.
He moves to Jordan from the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai and brings to Amman experience gleaned from kitchens around the world – beginning when he was 19 in Dublin and also taking in London, Paris and the United States.

Al Naser joins Radisson Amman
Radisson SAS Amman recently announced the appointment of Tareq Al-Naser as its the new director of sales and marketing. Al-Naser, has a talent for building excellent customner relationships, and  has an impressive track record with almost a decade’s experience in the hospitality industry in various positions, including a stint with the the InterContinental Hotels Group.

Tsoi promoted at Cathay
Brian Tsoi has been recently promoted to assistant to general manager for Cathay Pacific, Middle East, India and Africa.
 Tsoi was previously based in Hong Kong and worked in the product department at Cathay Pacific.
His responsibilities included overseeing cabin interior products, among others.
