Picturesque Elephantine Island is host to the Mövenpick

THE Elephantine Island Resort Aswan operated by Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, is making further progress in its ambitious strategy to create an entirely new look in the public areas and guestrooms, with a host of renovations that scheduled for completion between October and November.

The Elephantine Island Resort Aswan is located on a secluded landscaped island on the Nile.

Opposite the city of Aswan, it provides a lush tranquil environment of tropical gardens and magnificent views of the river and the surrounding historic monuments
There will be no structural changes to the bricks and mortar of the hotel and according to the project managers, the resort will be ‘repaired, redecorated and re-furnished’. The goal is not only to improve the appearance and to add new facilities, but to make the resort function more efficiently to the advantage of the guests, says a company spokesperson.
One of the major projects is a new 1448sqm swimming pool. The low buildings in the pool area have been demolished to ensure that the infinity edge pool and its surroundings have unobstructed views of the island, the Nile and Aswan. A separate children's pool will be located near by. To facilitate the construction, both the spa and tennis court are temporarily closed.
Recently, renovations have also begun on the lobby, Lounge Bar, all-day restaurant, the Tower Bar and the first phase of guest rooms. The interior designer, Christian Terlizzi of Decovar, choose a contemporary style influenced by Nubian décor. Egyptian granite is used for the floors and walls with the furnishing in various hues of burgundy, cream and ochre to create a light yet sophisticated ambience.
Areas such as the all-day restaurant and the Lounge Bar have been enlarged with floor to ceiling windows to allow for unobstructed views over the Nile and at night of the glittering lights of Aswan. The Tower Bar on the top floor will undergo a complete facelift, decorated in a modern stylish theme with colours in black and beige. New, secure floor to ceiling windows will intensify the enjoyment of spectacular views.
Careful planning has ensured that the resort will continue to operate during this renovation phase. Guestrooms located in the separate Nile Wing not only offer beautiful views over the Nile to Aswan or to the west bank and Kitchener Island, but are also located away from the sight and noise of construction.
For the convenience of guests, a temporary reception is located on the ground floor in front of the Nile Wing. La Perla restaurant is open 24 hours, offering both sumptuous buffets and an extensive à la Carte menu. Further available facilities include a lounge bar and a relaxing area in the garden with great views, sun-beds, an outdoor restaurant and bar. A nearby villa has been converted into a small health club offering a range of massages and a small gym.
