BACA award for Dubai
DUBAI airport has been voted best in air charter services worldwide by the UK's Baltic Air Charter Association (BACA).

Anita Mehra, director Marketing and Corporate Communications, Dubai Civil Aviation received the award from Dick Gilbert, managing director, Skyline Aviation. BACA members voted by post or online.

Ten-minute visa for UAE residents
UAE Residents requiring quick access to visa and immigration services can avail of facilities offered at the One-Stop Naturalisation and Residency Department at Dnata Travel in Deira. The outlet provides services like renewal of entry permits for residency and visit visas, finalisation of residency formalities and issuance of UAE Gate card.
 
Arab timeshare market ‘worth $1bn’
THE potential value of the timeshare market in the Arab region is $1 billon, according to research commissioned by RCI Middle East, part of the global RCI Global Vacation Network. It was conducted across a sample of nationalities including Saudi Arabians, Kuwaitis, Emiratis, Iranians and Egyptians. A preview of the findings said Arab nationals purchasing various types of shared ownership, is conservatively estimated at well over $1 billion. The research was to be unveiled at a seminar in  Dubai on April 29.

Yahoo does travel
SEARCH engine Yahoo is introducing an upgraded travel service with handy travel-specific features, stepping up its challenge to dedicated travel sites. Using Yahoo’s central search site, consumers can receive instant airfare and hotel price comparisons, satellite overview maps and user reviews of restaurants and tourist destinations. The site travel.yahoo.com had 15.75 million unique visitors worldwide during February.

ADTA opens Frankfurt office
SHEIKH Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, chairman of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), has inaugurated the ADTA's representative office in Frankfurt. Of the 500,000 German tourists who visited the UAE, 194,000 came to Abu Dhabi alone, Shaikh Sultan said. ADTA is seeking to attract 15 per cent more tourists, particularly from Europe.

Agents sign with Galileo Emirates
GALILEO Emirates has cemented its successful partnerships with several of the UAE’s leading travel agencies with a contract signing ceremony held in Dubai recently. These included Orient Travel and Touring Agency, and Sharjah National Travel & Tourist Agency. Galileo Emirates is hoping to consolidate its position as a major contributor to the travel industry in the UAE and wider region.
