Unveiling the new watch

MONTBLANC, manufacturer of fine writing and precision accessories, is marking its 100th anniversary with a never-before promotion in travel retail, partnering with Emirates Airline for a charitable cause.

An exclusive, one-off Mont Blanc centennial, chronograph watch will be offered onboard Emirates Airline’s duty free service to the highest bidder. Opening bids for the collector’s item will start from $65,000 (Dh240,000) and all proceeds raised will be donated to a charity, which is dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing environment and better quality of life for needy children around the world.
In addition to owning a masterpiece, the winning bidder and a partner will be flown on Emirates first class to a hosted stay at the luxurious Mont Blanc Chateau in Le Locle, Zurich. Le Locle is Mont Blanc’s luxury chalet and the centre of its watch making.
The masterpiece was unveiled for the first time recently at a media conference hosted by Karl Heinz Handke, president of Mont Blanc, and Kevin Griffiths, vice president for cabin crew service delivery at Emirates in Dubai.
The centennial Mont Blanc chronograph automatic is cast in 18 carat solid white gold and features a 43-faceted diamond, shaped in the distinctive Mont Blanc star as well as a bezel, set with black and white diamonds.
Interested buyers can submit their bids via Emirates’ onboard Duty Free brochure on all flights. The closing date for bids is May 31 this year.
