THE InterContinental Group Jordan has signed a management contract with Jordan’s Social Security Corporation for two new properties on the Dead Sea. The 420-room Crowne Plaza Resort and 202-room Holiday Inn will increase the company’s portfolio in the Kingdom to nine properties.

The Crowne Plaza Resort Dead Sea, which is built on a 70,000sqm site, offers a wide range of facilities consistent with the Crowne Plaza brand, including meeting and conference rooms, ballroom and meetings rooms, a widespread swimming, health spa, restaurants tennis courts and playgrounds for children.
The Holiday Inn Resort Dead Sea is built on a 41,000sqm site, and consists of 74 rooms and 128 chalets spread around the hotel, meetings rooms and various restaurants, health spa and swimming pools and playing fields for children.
“The addition of the two new hotels to our portfolio means that we will be offering almost a greater number of rooms in the country, and we are committed to using our global network of hotels and reservations offices to reinforce efforts to promote Jordan as a unique travel destination,” says a spokesman.
The InterContinental Hotels Group, including the brands of InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn is the largest hotel operator in Jordan and Palestine by a considerable margin.
It currently manages seven properties that understand the value of diversity in the workplace and in the communities where they operate. “We recognize that in order to serve global marketplace and maintain a competitive advantage we must promote diversity and inclusion in how they do business and ensure various and comprehensive working environment” says the spokesman.
The InterContinental Jordan hotel is the largest five-star deluxe property in Amman and first opened its doors in 1963. Since then it has undergone a number of renovations and extensions and now offers 440 bedrooms, five restaurants, health spa and meeting space that can accommodate up to 1,500 delegates. A Club InterContinental floor of 45 rooms offers exclusivity to the business traveller and the hotel has invested heavily in information technology with one business centre and high-speed connectivity from all the rooms as well as wireless access from the public areas and meeting rooms. In 2004 the hotel renovated three of its a la carte restaurants offering new concepts in Indian fusion, Mexican and Lebanese cuisine and in 2006 the hotel has started a whole renovation plan to one of its buildings to add an extra step toward enhancing the value of service and product offered to the market.
The InterContinental Aqaba, opened in the summer of 2005, is the most recent addition to the group and situated off the main Aqaba cornice on the northern shore of the red sea. It has 255 sea-view rooms including deluxe suites and six diverse food and beverage outlets. The hotel caters for a wide mix of clientele at different times of the year, both in terms of market segment and nationality. It offers a wide array of water sports as well as a fully equipped gymnasium, squash court and spa facilities. The swimming pool at almost 200 meters long is the largest in Aqaba and spans the entire breadth of the hotel.

The guest rooms are generously appointed with satellite TV, radio, direct dial telephones with data port connection, trouser press, tea and coffee tray, voicemail, mini-bar, in-room safe and guests can enjoy the high level of service which includes 24 hour room service and a laundry and valet service. Leisure facilities and amenities are outstanding with an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, snack bar and tennis courts. Guests have a choice of three restaurants, lounge, bar, coffee shop and nightclub. For the business traveller the hotel has a fully equipped business centre, and a choice of four meeting rooms. It recently installed high speed wireless internet that may be used in all hotel facilities. A Crowne Plaza Club Floor and Lounge are also available.
Set against a breathtaking view of the Petra Mountains, the Crowne Plaza Resort Petra is only steps away from the visitor's entrance to the old city with its world-famous archaeological sites. It has 147 deluxe rooms, suites that has been recently expanded and renovated, 31 newly renovated hillside chalets and 41 guesthouse rooms tucked into the Petra rock face overlooking the visitor's entrance to the site. Heated outdoor swimming pool and terrace bar, Jacuzzi, sauna and tennis court, three restaurants, lobby bar, evening cocktail lounge with dance floor a conference room. A 2000-year old Nabatean Tomb, the Cave Bar, is fronted with a large piazza ideal for groups and incentive gatherings with space to cater for up to 200 guests.
The Holiday Inn Amman, is located within a short distance of the capital's business and commercial areas with easy access to Queen Alia International Airport. It has 240 guest rooms, including 18 suites and 20 executive bedrooms with modern amenities. Non-smoking rooms and facilities for the disabled are also available. It is in the process of a total light renovation, according to the spokesman.
The InterContinental Jericho hotel is located in the heart of Jericho next to the unique International Oasis Casino, and a 10 minutes drive to the Dead Sea. Offering 181 deluxe rooms including 14 junior suites and two soon-to-be-completed presidential suites all equipped with the telecommunications technology, data ports and satellite channels. The Club InterContinental floor and lounge offers three function and meeting rooms which can accommodate 450 theatre-style, 220 classroom, 500 reception and 350 banquet. A business centre equipped with complete secretarial services, facsimile, photocopying and a PC work station is available.
The Jacir Palace InterContinental Bethlehem on the Jerusalem-Hebron Road, dates back to 1910. The new millennium saw craftsmen complete the final touches the Jacir Palace, InterContinental Bethlehem turning it into to a five star hotel. The Palace’s main building was renovated and restored to its original condition. Every effort was put to source the original pieces of furniture and artwork that belonged to the palace. In addition, a two-wing extension was built to accommodate the hotel’s 250 rooms ranging from standard, business, club rooms, handicapped, presidential and executive suites, all connected to the palace by air-conditioned corridors and indoor gardens. The extension also includes a health spa, banquet and meeting halls, outdoor swimming pool and tennis courts.
