AS Malaysia celebrates fifty years of its independence, 2007 has been designated the Visit Malaysia Year by the country’s government.
Visit Malaysia Year 2007 is expected to increase the number of tourist arrivals to the country from the current 15 million to 20 million in 2007. The country targets to attract some 17.3 million tourists this year (2006). The country hopes the declaration will encourage economic growth and open up job opportunities for Malaysians.
Malaysia’s tourism ministry promises to aggressively market and promote Malaysia as a major international tourist destination this year. The government hopes to woo some 20 million foreigners to visit the country.
Malaysia has plenty to showcase, including historical sites, modern landmarks, busting cities, lush verdant jungles or pristine villages.
