Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts (MH&R) are concluding the final preparations to welcome the first guests to the new luxury five-star Mövenpick Resort & Casino at Taba on Egypt’s Red Sea.
The latest addition to MH&R’s enviable portfolio in the Middle East is in continuation of the Swiss domiciled company’s expansion policy in both new and existing destinations.
A 25 km drive from Taba International Airport, the property is constructed around the Historic Plaza where in 1989 President Hosni Mubarak hosted the Egyptian flag in celebration of Taba, the final part of Sinai being handed back to Egypt. The Resort is located directly on Taba Bay, heralded as the new paradise on the ‘Egyptian Riviera’. The luxury Mövenpick Resort & Casino Taba will include 434 rooms, suites and villas overlooking the sea, the pools or the mountains. All accommodation enjoys the latest amenities, including internet connection, satellite TV, direct-dial telephone with voicemail, balconies and 24-hour room service. There is also wheelchair access throughout the resort and rooms specifically designed for the disabled.
“Mövenpick Taba Resort & Casino represents one of the newest resort developments on the Red Sea,” said Andreas Mattmüller, MH&R senior vice-president, Middle East. “Planned with an environmentally-friendly approach to ensure sustainable tourism, we are proud to be amongst the pioneers by opening our new property early next year, and we look forward to welcoming our first guests.”
In keeping with the chain’s reputation for focusing on the excellence of its gastronomy, the Mövenpick Resort & Casino Taba has created dining venues to satisfy the most discerning gourmet. An all-day dinning restaurant offers international buffets. A Chinese, a seafood and a Lebanese restaurant complement the culinary experience, while a pool bar and kiosk offer the famous Swiss premium Mövenpick ice-cream.
The hotel boasts a 400 m private beach, four outdoor leisure pools including two for children and toddlers in addition to a heated indoor swimming pool and a Kid’s Club. A spa and a fully-equipped fitness centre and professionally managed water sports and diving centre will be available on the premises at a later stage as will tennis and volleyball courts.
Two meeting rooms with a capacity of up to 110 delegates have been especially designed to accommodate local, regional and international meetings or incentive groups supported by a fully equipped business centre and the latest audio visual equipment.
General manager of the Mövenpick Resort & Casino Taba, Johnny Mathis spoke enthusiastically about the new property: “I am confident that we have upheld the Mövenpick philosophy of true excellence in Swiss hospitality. We will be offering superb facilities and we are located in an area of great natural beauty and scenery that can be compared to few places in the world. Taba is the gateway to desert exploration and the nirvana for water sports enthusiasts that wish to discover the secrets of the Red Sea and its abundance of marine life.” The Mövenpick Resort & Casino Taba represents the chain’s eleventh property in Egypt, located in eight different destinations, a portfolio enhanced by two luxury Nile cruise ships with a third deluxe floating hotel, the Royal Lotus to be commissioned later this year.
