Qatar National Hotels Company (QNHC) has introduced the latest addition to its group of managed and owned hotels: Sharq Village & Spa.

This hotel-resort, that is scheduled to be opened by mid-2006, promises to be the most prestigious five-star luxury hotel in the state.
Sharq Village & Spa will offer guests an enjoyable experience of Qatari tradition by indulging them in rich cultural heritage and local architecture, while giving them a taste of a privileged lifestyle of opulence.
As its name suggests, this hotel-resort is inspired by a Qatari historical village setting. Nestled on a sprawling 82,165 sq m property, this hotel-resort is being developed on the Corniche, between Doha Club and Doha Marriot Gulf Hotel, overlooking the breathtaking seashore and central Doha. The hotel is a picturesque contrast of old and contemporary beauty.
Sharq Village & Spa has 174 rooms that consist of suites, standard twin and king rooms, and one exquisite presidential suite intended only for the top VIPs. The resort also has spacious conference facilities to cater to all kinds of events and gatherings. A number of villas house the guestrooms while the main building is meant for the lounge, reception and function area. A corridor of shops that resembles the traditional Qatari souk is another prominent feature of the hotel, adding to an enriching cultural experience.
The village will be known for its Fish Market Restaurant that has both outdoor and indoor dining facilities and has the capacity to cater for up to 316 persons. This restaurant will offer authentic gastronomic delight as it serves a variety of delectable seafood recipes and cuisines from around the world. The Fish Market Restaurant will offer casual chic dining on its ground floor and is likely to have private dining on the first floor.
Sharq Village and Spa will also have a Café complemented by a Cigar Bar where guests can mingle, relax, and unwind. The coffee shop serves a variety of local and international coffee blends amid traditional ambiance, classical music, and magnificent vista of the sea. The Cigar Bar, on the other hand, will bring forth Qatar’s first walk-in humidor, vending a wide selection of cigar brands.
To top it all, the hotel’s spa, the largest of its kind in the Gulf region, will be operated by the internationally-acclaimed Bangkok-based Six Senses Resorts and Spas, which is currently operating spas in various countries in Asia and Europe. The spa will be a sanctuary equipped with saunas, steam rooms, Jacuzzis, plunge pools, fitness and meditation centres, majlis areas, and prayer rooms. The Six Senses Spa will offer an array of treatments such as Swedish, Thai, Balinese, and aroma massages, beauty and health care, and specialized treatments on crystal therapy, baths, body scrubs, henna, as well as lessons on Eastern practises, exercises and meditations.
