Leisure Resorts

Unbeatable lifestyle at Hilton Kuwait Resort
September 2005 532

WHETHER you stay for a weekend, a week or longer, the Hilton Kuwait Resort offers an appealing lifestyle and a range of recreational facilities.

The natural setting is a blending of pristine beaches, crystal clear aquamarine waters and verdant gardens.
Imagine waking up to the gentle sounds of the surf instead of traffic noise and looking out your window at the sparkling sea as you sip your coffee. The hotel buildings are designed to meld perfectly with the natural surroundings. From the luxurious marble corridors and minimalist furnishings, to the aquariums brimming with colourful fishes, the overall feeling you get is one of serenity.
With its white sandy beaches and acres of gardens, the resort invites you to indulge yourself. How about floating in your own  pool at the end of a long day, hunting for seashells as you snorkel with your  children in the Gulf, or taking the kayak out to the beacon for a bit of exercise? The lucky few long-term residents at the hotel say that they would not choose to live anywhere else after experiencing the resort as a home. “I love coming home to the Hilton after work each day,” says one resident, adding, “There is nothing like it for sloughing off the stress. The first thing I do when I get home is always to slip out of my shoes and go for a walk along the beach in front of my villa.”
On weekends, residents and visitors alike can enjoy a number of fun events and activities including water sports, sporting competitions, beach BBQ’s and kid’s programmes. Besides the gorgeous outdoor environment and recreational opportunities, another big plus to staying and living at the Hilton is access to the Hiltonia Beach Club and The Spa. The Spa, which has been described as a “Mediterranean oasis with an ambience of reassurance, peace and tranquillity” offers dozens of spa treatments and a thalassotherapy pool, sauna, steam room and Turkish bath. The health club, which is part of the Hiltonia Beach Club, has a purpose-built aerobics room, a gym with state-of-the-art equipment and personal Broadcast Vision and instructors offering everything from Tai Chi to Latin dance classes.
Yet another perk to stay at the Hilton is the wide variety of dining options it has to offer. How wonderful to have the choice of indulging in a sumptuous breakfast buffet at Teatro restaurant or walking over to Starbucks, which is located in the resort or, for that matter, making your own breakfast in your studio, villa or chalet with their fully-equipped kitchens or just rolling over and calling room service instead. Also, when you would like to dine out, you could find yourself having difficulty deciding between the superb choices on offer. For example, walk to one of the many restaurants at the resort, have a catered party on the beach, or just grill steaks on your patio overlooking the beach and let Hilton make the salads.
From a food perspective, the resort has something for everyone. The international cuisine at Teatro, the resort’s continental restaurant, is both diverse and satisfying.  The Song Bird Café is perfect for a light snack, substantial meal or just coffee and a chat. The Courtyard, outside on the terrace, features quality Lebanese mezzeh and hand-mixed shisha under the stars. Wavebreaker Café, the resort’s seasonal restaurant, allows you to have your meal served poolside while you lounge in the sun and warm breezes. And, of course, everyone will savour a meal in the world-famous spectacular Royal Thai restaurant, The Blue Elephant, which recreates a bit of Thailand on the Gulf. Other dining outlets on the grounds of the resort include Pizza Express, Starbucks and Dairy Queen ice cream. “We just love being here at the Hilton. There is always so much to do and enjoy, and the restaurants are among our favourite places to socialise,” adds a long-term guest.
Even though Kuwait City is a 30-minute drive, there are shopping options at the resort, which boasts designer boutiques, Italian leather goods and fine stationery, books and gifts, an optician, shoe store, beachwear store, candle store, jewellery, and a mini market for quick groceries and necessities, all on the resort grounds.  Also, a new shopping centre, Al Kout, has opened in Fahaheel, just a five-minute drive from the resort. Al Kout has a fish, a meat and a vegetable market, as well as an upscale shopping area with many international brand stores, a marina and restaurants.
