Sunshine Tours is to host a pioneering travel show this year in Bahrain as part of its silver jubilee celebrations.
The Bahrain International Travel Expo (BITE 2005), to be held from May 9 to 11 at the Gulf International Convention and Exhibition Centre in the Gulf Hotel, is the first of its kind, says general manager Abraham John.
“BITE has been conceived as a platform to capitalise on the burgeoning tourism potential in the Gulf,’’ says John. “It will be the first customer-focused show to be held in the region where the visitors will also be able to sit down with exhibitors and choose holidays of their choice.”
About 40 companies will take part in the expo.
“Travel and tour companies from around the world will converge on Bahrain for this international travel expo and it will also act as a platform to promote Bahrain and the various tourism-related projects coming up in the kingdom in the next five years,” says John.
He continues: “Exhibitors will include representatives of tourism boards, hotel chains, tour operators, airlines and related companies from around the world. It will also be a forum to promote Bahrain to the international tourist, by showcasing the varied and multi-faceted attractions within the kingdom.”
“BITE will offer an invaluable opportunity for the staff at travel agencies, airlines, hotels and tour companies to upgrade their knowledge of the products available, and the event will also provide the perfect opportunity for aspiring young Bahrainis who would like to make the travel industry their chosen career to gain an insight into the workings of the sector.”
The show, which is planned as a world-class exhibition, will be featured as an annual event in the international travel calendar.
