Nierhaus at Radisson SAS, DMC
Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts has appointed Siegfried Nierhaus as the general manager of the new Radisson SAS Hotel, Dubai Media City (DMC).

Nierhaus brings with him 16 years of experience from the European hospitality industry. In 2002, he opened the Country Inn & Suites, Paris where he remained GM for three years.

Guilloux takes charge at Novotel, Ibis
Bruno Guilloux has been appointed GM of Novotel and Ibis World Trade Centre, Dubai. Guilloux began his career in rooms division at the Savoy Group Lancaster Hotel, Paris after graduating from the prestigious Parisian Hotel School Jean Drouant. He joined Accor Asia Pacific in 1994 as director of rooms and was later promoted as resident manager.

Elkahla joins Coral Deira as manager
Mohamed Elkahla has been appointed as hotel manager for Coral Deira, Dubai. He has previously held various management positions with top hotel chains in the UAE. Prior to this, Elkahla worked with Taj Palace Hotel Dubai as associate director of sales and marketing (DoSM).

Sachdev is Rotana’s R&D manager
Aman A Sachdev has joined Rotana Hotel Management Corporation as their R&D manager. Sachdev was previously with Jumeirah International (the Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management) delivering courses in revenue, business and rooms division management to undergraduate degree students and industry professionals.

Madi joins Grand Hyatt Cairo
Mohamed Madi has recently joined Grand Hyatt Cairo as the new associate director of sales for corporate. Prior to this, he was regional sales manager for corporate and travel segments for Royal Mirage, Dubai. Madi has over 12 years of experience in the hospitality industry and has held key positions in various five-star hotels.

Gabard joins InterCon in Lebanon
InterContinental Hotels Group has been appointed Laurent Gabard as area director of sales and marketing in Lebanon and DoSM for InterCon Phoenicia Beirut. Gabard has previously held the same position at the InterContinental La Vendôme in France.

Mitri as Crowne Plaza Beirut’s DoSM
InterContinental Hotels Group has appointed Roula Selim Mitri as DoSM at the Crowne Plaza, Beirut. Mitri was previously director of sales at the Holiday Inn Dunes in Beirut. She has graduated with a Diplôme d’Etudes Approfondies in translation at the Saint Joseph University, Beirut.

Bassila at Crowne Plaza Bahrain
Ziad Bassila has been appointed as DoSM at Crowne Plaza Bahrain. Bassila joined the InterContinental Hotels Group in 1997 as sales manager at the Crowne Plaza Dubai before becoming DoSM at the Holiday Inn Bur Dubai in 2001.

Luedeke joins Hilton Group
The Hilton Group has appointed Yvonne Luedeke as the new marketing communications manager. Luedeke joins the Hilton after five years with Jumeirah International. She is responsible for the Hilton Dubai Creek and Hilton Jumeirah Beach properties. Luedeke moved into the hospitality industry in 1991 with the InterContinental Hotels in Berlin.

Sheraton Creek promotes Tarabout
Yves Tarabout, who was deputy director of sales at Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel and Towers, has been promoted as director of sales. He started his career in the hospitality industry with various luxury hotels in Paris before joining Sheraton Abu Dhabi Resort & Towers.

New at Safir Heliopolitan, Raouche
Edward Feghali, who was previously with InterContinental Hotels, has joined Safir Heliopolitan Hotel, Raouche, as director of F&B. Also, Chef Nabil Sila has been appointed as the new executive chef. Among others, he has worked at Cafe Mondo of the Phoenicia InterContinental Beirut, and was the executive sous chef of the Metropolitan Palace Hotel, Beirut.

Lots cooking at InterCon Dubai
The InterContinental Dubai welcomes two new chefs to the hotel. Jean-Marc Gaucher, who has worked for various restaurants in Nice and Bangkok, has been appointed as executive pastry chef while Salvatore Silvestrino, who has been heading  italian cuisine preparations in some of Australia’s finest restaurants, is the new La Moda sous chef.

Strodel appointed Etihad Airways CEO
HE Dr Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saif Al Nahyan, the chairman of Etihad Airways and director general of the Civil Aviation, Abu Dhabi, has appointed Robert W Strodel as the airline’s new CEO. Strodel has worked for Lufthansa German Airlines for many years. He founded Lufthansa Cargo India in 1996 before going on to lead the company as managing director. In 2001, he founded his own aviation consultancy in Germany offering global aviation consulting services.
