Geneva warms up for Fêtes de Genève
TRAVELLERS looking for holiday options this summer can take advantage of the festival atmosphere surrounding Geneva this month August.

The cities annual Fêtes de Genève will run from August 4 to 14, with a whole host of family entertainment, as well as pre-festival activities. China is the guest country for this year’s fête and will see a China Town erected in the English Park to celebrate the culture and flavours of the orient. In addition, visitors can take part in the first Geneva Slow Festival, an opportunity through which visitors can explore the city on foot, on bikes or skateboards.

Emirates signs deal with Hertz
EMIRATES has recently signed a global partnership with Hertz to offer the best available rates to customers, when they book online.
Until December 31, customers can go to www.emirates.com and link seamlessly to the Hertz online reservations system, where they will receive special rates when they hire a car. Bill Jones, vice-president marketing and sales at Hertz, said, “Our strengthening re¬lationship with Emirates is good news for new and existing cu¬stomers, by booking direct; they can be guaranteed access to some outstanding details and exclusive promotions.” Bookings and information can also be accessed via a specially formulated co-branded micro-site “http://www.hertz.co.uk/partners/emirates” or through the Emirates worldwide websites.

Unicef inks deal with Skywards
SKYWARDS, the frequent-flyer programme of Emirates and SriLankan Airlines, has forged a unique partnership with Unicef, United Nation’s Children’s Fund. Unicef was chosen by Skywards from among a number of huma¬nitarian organsiations, which operate on a global scale. To date, Unicef has received 7,907,500 miles – one million miles from Skywards and the remainder from donations by Sky¬wards members. This is equivalent to 112 return Economy Class flights between Dubai and Unicef’s New York headquarters. The Skywards miles are exchanged for flights to transport volunteers, aid workers and medical personnel to places where they can help those in need.
