Qatar Tourism Authority has announced this year's Qatar Summer Wonders (QSW) ‘Around the World in 30 Days’ festival - which will commence on July 10.
“This will be the highlight of the summer in Qatar, and there will be something for the whole family,” said Gary Mason, QTA director general. “We must thank the chairman, Akbar Al Baker, and the Board of the Qatar Tourism Authority, who has been instrumental in making Qatar Summer Wonders a reality and without their input and vision, this festival would not be possible,” added Mason.
Qatar Tourism Authority has worked with a number of organisations to make the most of the many first-rate venues in and around Doha to present a variety of daily shows and events throughout the “entire 30 days”. Qatar International Exhibition Centre will be the main venue for the different shows and activities with City Center Doha, Landmark, the Mall, and the Diplomatic Club, among others, also contributing to this spectacular event.
“Qatar Summer Wonders will be one of the biggest events in the Gulf this summer, with not only a cast of thousands from within Qatar, but approximately 500 performers flying to Doha from all four comers of the world to stage unique shows and performances,” added Mason. Key highlights include The Circus of the World, the Grand Illusion Show from Europe, the USA theme Show, an International Oriental Jazz Festival, Arabian Music and Culture Nights, and a Traditional Village. In addition, Qatar Summer Wonders will see promotions and raffle draws up to QR2,000,000. Fireworks will light up the Doha skyline once a week during the four weeks of the festival; and the entire city centre of Doha from the Corniche to the Arch roundabout will be a kaleidoscope of light and colour.
“The prominence of Qatar as an. international destination, and its importance as a crossroads between East and West is becoming ever more apparent - and our staging of the Asian Games next year is testament to the ever increasing role that Qatar has on the world stage,” said Mason. “With Qatar Summer Wonders, we are staging the one of the biggest festival that Qatar has seen, and we are confident that it will be an unparalleled success.”
