New PR boss vows more open airline

Gulf Air will be more open in the future, informing the public about its good and bad news, promises new Public Relations Director Ahmed Hussain Al Janahi.

"We want to create a situation whereby any information and news about the airline, good or bad, is quickly and accurately disseminated through one reliable source," he said.

Al Janahi joined the airline last month and replaces long-time public relations chief Abdulla Abdul Karim, who remains as secretary to the board of directors.

It is his first venture into the airline industry.

"We intend to build a transparent network that will strengthen the image of the airline," he said.

"We will begin by targeting our four world-wide hubs, and eventually branch out into all of our 52 on-line destinations."

Al Janahi also plans to bring the company's 4,000 world-wide employees closer together.He intends to revamp its internal publications to focus on employees.
