Kaiser appointed GM
Hubert Klemenz, director of operations for the Mövenpick Hotels in Egypt, appointed Jan Kaiser as the GM for the Mövenpick Resort & Spa El Alamein. Kaiser joined Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in December 1995 after which he worked in different Mövenpick Hotels including Zurich, Beijing, Quseir and Pyramids.
Perrot at InterCon Citystars
InterContinental Hotels Group, announced that France’s Thierry Perrot has been appointed GM of the InterContinental Citystars Cairo. With a lifetime of experience with the InterContinental Hotels Group, Perrot is a strong believer of the InterContinental brand and brings hands-on know-how in senior management positions at exclusive InterContinental properties.
Bruggeman takes charge
Henk Bruggeman has been named the new GM of the Kempinski Julai’a Hotel & Resort in Kuwait. Bruggeman, started his career with InterContinental Hyde Park in London in 1981 followed by postings for different hotel chains in The Hague, Aruba, Kenya and Moscow. He spent 10 years working in Dubai before starting with Kempinski Julai’a Hotel & Resort in January-2004
Samir at Rotana Resorts, Egypt
Medhat Samir has recently joined Rotana Hotels to take charge of the area sales and marketing office for Rotana Resorts in Egypt. Samir has worked with Wagon Lits before starting his career in the hospitality industry in 1989 with the Accor Group and then with Pyramysa chain of hotels and Nile cruises as regional senior sales manager and regional assistant director of sales before joining the Hilton where he was sales director. Before joining Rotana Hotels Medhat was the head of business development at the Nile Hilton.
Waring is deputy MD, Six Senses
Jamie Waring joins Six Senses Spas as deputy managing director. He comes to Six Senses from his previous role with David Lloyd Leisure – a division of Whitbread PLC, Europe’s largest leisure company - where he held the role as regional manager, overseeing several health and racquet clubs in the South of England.
Changes at the top at Sheraton
Sheraton Abu Dhabi Resort & Towers has appointed Klaus Christandl as the new deputy general manager and Mahmoud Rida Abulwafa as the new director of human resources. Christandl, who was earlier deputy general manager at the Sheraton Dubai Creek, brings with him 16 years of international experience. Prior to joining Sheraton in Dubai he held the position of F&B manager at the Phuket Yacht Club Hotel & Beach Resort, Thailand Mahmoud was earlier deputy director of HR at Sheraton Doha Hotel and Resort.
Al Ghazzawi joins Al Bustan
Karim Al Ghazzawi has joined the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel, Dubai as hotel manager. Al Ghazzawi started his career in 1986 at the Dolder Grand Hotel in Zurich. Then he moved to Geneva where held various positions at the InterContinantal Hotel mainly in rooms division, sales and marketing departmants. He was also the resident manager at Abu Dhabi Beach Rotana Hotel & Towers.
Bel Selah at Al Bustan Rotana
Al Bustan Rotana Hotel has added a new pillar of strength to its team by welcoming Majid Bel Selah, the first local on board at the front office department. Bel Selah has been appointed to serve the guests and to extend a warm Arabic hospitality. Bel Selah has been educated in UK and has a vast experience in business technology skills, sales and customer relations.
Lots cooking for Murray
The InterContinental Dubai has appointed a new director of F&B, Scott Murray. Murray transferred from the Banyan Tree, Bangkok where he held the position of executive assistant manager, in charge of F&B, overseeing the overall operation of the hotel with a focus on Food and Beverage. Murray joined the InterContinental Hotels Group in 1996 as a trainee in InterContinental Sydney, then moved to the InterContinental Singapore. He rejoins the InterContinental Hotels Group in April 2005 as director of F&B for the InterContinental Dubai where he is going to be in charge of 10 restaurants, three bars, one dhow and a cake shop as well as banqueting operations.
Vas named resort manager
Godfrey Vas has been named resort manager, Soneva Fushi Resort & Six Senses Spa Maldives. Vas joins Soneva Fushi Resort following two years at Parrot Cay Resort and Spa in the Turks and Caicos Islands in the West Indies, where he held a similar role overseeing the resort operations and ensuring guest satisfaction. Prior to that, he had a five-year tenure with Le Meridien in Port Villa, Vanuatu, preceded by a five-year tenure with Le Meridien in Melbourne, the city of which he is a native. Godfrey began his hospitality career as assistant night manager at Gulf Hotel Bahrain, then as front office manger at Hotel Swanston in Melbourne. Early in his professional career, he was involved in exporting fashion garments to the Gulf.
Van Der Hoeven at Evason
Pieter van der Hoeven has been named resort manager, Evason Hua Hin Resort & Six Senses Spa Thailand. Pieter comes to Evason Hua Hin Resort from the role of resident manager at Hua Hin’s Anantara Resort, where he oversaw the day to day operation of the property. That followed an almost three and a half year tenure with The Peninsula Bangkok where he rose from front office manager to rooms division manager. His previous assignments were in his native Australia with Hyatt in Melbourne and Adelaide, and at the Peninsula Hong Kong. Peiter gained hospitality work experience at The Terrace InterContinental Adelaide and The Adelaide Convention Centre. He also found time to perform the honory role of director of public relations for AIESEC South Australia, a wholly student-run organisation which sits on the United Nations representing the youth voice of the world.
Noblet joins Coral International
Nadège Noblet has just joined the Communication and PR team at Coral International LLC. Appointed as communication and PR manager, Noblet has a background in the hotel sector, having followed her father’s and brother’s steps into the hospitality industry. She has varied very successful experiences in the UAE with Le Meridien Abu Dhabi and Dubai, InterContinental Abu Dhabi, Hyatt Regency Dubai and the Al Maha Desert Resort.
