New billing system may hit half of Bahrain agents

Half of Bahrain's travel agencies could be out of business if they fail to qualify for membership of a new billing system by October.

Just 56 of the country's 110 travel agencies have qualified themselves to join the International Air Transport Association's (Iata) Billing and Settlement Plan (BSP), which will come into effect on October 1, a report said.

These include 16 Iata agents and 38 non-Iata agents, it said.

Airlines will not release their tirvice.
