The Ramada hotel in Doha is celebrating its silver jubilee, while guests and visitors are relaxing in the newly redesigned and extended lobby.
Light, open and very modern, its miles away from the 70s style of the original lobby – though as some (young!) visitors have pointed out, there’s been a 70s revival in design across the globe!
But the new set-up is user friendly and has a great ambience. In fact, the Ramada is still probably one of the friendliest places to stay in town and ideally located for reaching every part of the expanding city.
What’s more, it also boasts two of the finest F&B outlets in Doha. The Hyde Park Coffee Shop serves a mouthwatering range of breakfast and lunch dishes – don’t forget to check out the amazing ‘Chocolate Fountain’ while you are there – while Sakura, promoted as the new taste in town, has a newly-implemented menu where you can choose to experience the flavours of Japan in a truly traditional setting.
The Ramada and golfing
The Ramada hotel in Doha not only offers special ‘golfing packages’ under the theme ‘Golf in the Gulf’, it also sponsors a number of events at the Doha Golf Club, working hand-in-hand with the Qatar Golf Association.
The Ramada works closely with the Qatar Golf Association on both the Qatar Open and the Qatar Masters, and was the official hotel for the Open last year. Together with British airways, the Ramada co-sponsors the Celebrities-Amateur tournament, and had no less than 18 celebrities staying at the hotel last time round. The Ramada is also the official hotel for the Doha Oilmen’s Golf tournament – one of the largest in the Gulf. In addition, the hotel hosts the annual Ramada Invitational, inviting some 90 key accounts to participate in the tournament, with a gala dinner and prize-giving at the hotel to round off the event.
The Ramada Doha’s ‘Golf in the Gulf’ package is aimed at expatriates and residents in the GCC, and although primarily targeted at weekends, is available mid-week as well (in both instances with reservations subject to availability) for QR 675 per person per day (single occupancy) or QR505 per person (twin sharing), you get airport-hotel-airport transportation, a welcome drink, accommodation, full buffet breakfast, a limousine to and from the Doha Golf Club, all your green fees and buggy hire are included, and you also get a complimentary sleeve of three Ramada golf balls.
