Bartz takes charge at Sheraton Jumeirah
Dubai’s Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort & Towers has announced the appointment of Sascha Bartz as the resort’s general manager.

Bartz holds a diploma in hotel management from the Hotelfachschule Boppard in Germany and arrives to Dubai from Saudi Arabia, where he was GM of the Sheraton Jeddah Hotel. In his new role, Bartz will be responsible for all facets of the resort’s operation and its 256 rooms. He has worked at Sheraton properties in Cairo and Lagos.

Benzari is new GM at Al Sondos
Amal Benzari has been appointed as the new general manager at Al Sondos Suites by Le Meridien and its sister property Dar Al Sondos, the Dubai all-suite properties. Benzari’s career has spanned a quarter of a century in the hospitality sector, including senior positions in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Morocco, the US and the UAE, where he returns after 20 years.

McCarthy at Corinthia Hotels in Malta
Corinthia Hotels International has appointment Irish national Shaun McCarthy as general manager of its upscale Corinthia San Gorg & Marina Resort in St Julians Bay, Malta. McCarthy comes with vast experience in international five-star hotels and Malta’s hotel scene in particular, having relocated to the Island four years ago with the InterContinental Hotel Group. He was earlier GM of the Crowne Plaza in Manchester, England, and more recently, was GM of the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza in Sliema, Malta.

Arora promoted as new DoSM
Amit Arora has been promoted to director of sales and marketing (DoSM) at The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai. Arora was most recently director of sales at the hotel and has worked at group properties in Berlin and Boston. His goal is to effectively develop and implement integrated strategies in direct sales and marketing.

New faces at Sheraton hotels
The Sheraton properties in Dubai have recruited several new PR professionals. Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort & Towers has appointed multi-lingual Marwa Moharam as PR manager. With a bachelor’s degree from Cairo, she has worked around Europe and the region, in various capacities. Jennifer Amanna, from a strong hotel operations background, joins the Sheraton Deira Hotel & Towers as PR coordinator. She has over 15 years of experience in the industry. The Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Towers has employed 24-year-old Hania Al Lahham as PR coordinator. Fluent in several languages, she has worked in Belgium, where she briefly ran her own business.

Selim El Hage at Dar Al Sondos
Taking over as resident manager at Dar Al Sondos Hotel Apartments by Le Meridien, Dubai is Selim El-Hage, who returns to the emirate from Bahrain. He has 20 years’ experience in the four- and five-star hotel sector and began his career in San Francisco, going on to hold positions around the world including Turkey, Jordan, Bahrain and Dubai.

Aramouni at Al Bustan Palace Muscat 
Al Bustan Palace InterContinental Muscat has appointed Adel Aramouni, as director of food & beverage. Aramouni has a Swiss diploma in hotel management and has worked with Hilton and Crown Plaza properties in the region. He returns to Oman from the Mzaar InterContinental Mountain Resort and Spa in Lebanon.

Vermaak moves to Shangri-La
Chene Vermaak has joined the Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai, as part of its PR team, specifically for F&B-related activities. Vermaak was formerly of the Mövenpick Bur Dubai.
