Hertz launches 24-hour call centre
DUBAI: Hertz UAE has launched a 24-hour, seven days a week call centre, the first of its kind for a car rental company in the UAE.

Accessible via the toll-free 800 4345, the new call centre will be on hand to take reservations for new customers and to deal with requests for repairs and maintenance, emergency assistance and general enquiries from existing customers. The new call centre will be overseen by new manager, Vanessa Holt.

Emirates rolls out MasterCard SecureCode
DUBAI: MasterCard International has announced that Emirates will deploy MasterCard SecureCode for its customers throughout the world. The move will help protect online bookings amid a growing trend amongst consumers to purchase tickets via the internet. For cardholders, MasterCard SecureCode delivers enhanced protection against the risk of credit or debit account numbers being used by fraudsters in cyberspace. Online bookings made on the Emirates site will be secured by the cardholders personal MasterCard SecureCode.

Thrifty offers Nissan deals
DUBAI: Thrifty Car Rental is offering corporate clients a deal on its fleet of Nissan Sunny vehicles. Through to January 15, corporate clients can lease a brand new 2005 Nissan Sunny, 1.6 litre automatic, on a three-year contract for Dh1,195 per month. Until November 14 this year, the company is also offering clients in the UAE the chance to drive away in a brand new 2005 Nissan Pathfinder for as little as Dh295 as part of a special Ramadan offer.

24-hour charity run in Dubai
DUBAI: The first Dubai 24 Hours Charity Marathon will begin at 4pm on November 24 in Dubai at the 19th Street Racecourse, opposite the Mövenpick Hotel Bur Dubai. Organised in conjunction with the ANT No-Smoking Campaign, the Mövenpick Hotel Bur Dubai, ANT FZ LLC, Ministry of Youth and Education and the Municipality of Dubai, this event will attract runners both locally and internationally, with proceeds from the event for a local charity benefiting children, the Thalassemia Association in the UAE. The objective being to run as many times around the 700m track as possible in the 24-hour period. International runners will benefit from special accommodation rates at the Mövenpick Hotel Bur Dubai.

Dubai airport wins award
DUBAI: Dubai International Airport has been awarded the “Highly Commended” certificate for ‘Best Airport Marketing’ in the Category of Airports handling 15-25 million passengers per annum at Routes 2004 Conference in Madrid, Spain. The award received by Anita Mehra Homayoun, director marketing and corporate communications, Department of Civil Aviation Dubai. Munich came in first in the category, followed by Dubai in the second place. With this the total number of awards won by Dubai International Airport stands at 37.
