Doha Golf Club to expand

THE Doha Golf Club, host to the annual Qatar Masters, a PGA European tour event, was designed by Peter Harradine and first opened in 1996.

It’s a haven of beauty and tranquility, 150 hectares carved out of the desert and superbly landscaped. The club, just a five-minute drive from The Pearl-Qatar, has a par 72 18-hole Championship course, a floodlit driving range and a nine-hole floodlit Academy course. It offers individual, family and corporate memberships, while non-members are also welcome to use the Championship and Academy Courses and the Driving Range. The golf club’s restaurant is open to non-members, as is the Oasis Bar.
The Golf Academy offers indoor teaching facilities and practice facilities, utilising the V1 Video Swing Analysis system and there are custom-built chipping, putting and bunker practice areas. The Academy also has a fully-equipped gymnasium. There are currently five fully-qualified PGA resident professionals at the club, while overseas professionals also book the Doha Golf Club facilities to train their own golfer. Individual coaching is available for those serious about improving their game, with a variety of packages available.
The club, run by the Qatar Golf Association, is to undergo an extensive QR3 million renovation and expansion programme after a customer survey revealed the need for increased amenities.
