THE Majestic Al Hashemi II stands with pride at the seafront of the Radisson SAS hotel Kuwait as a prime historical landmark and one of most luxurious banquet halls in the city with a unique structure.
“My Happiest moment were when the ship was completed and inaugurated, it is more than an investment project, it’s a symbol of the history of the nation. We built A1 Hashemi II to secure the past for the future generations and to preserve Kuwait maritime heritage,” said Husain Marafe of the ship and the Radisson SAS Hotel in Kuwait.
The impressive Al Hashemi II weighs a massive 2,500 tons with a length of 84m and a width of 18.7m of top duality eroko ekki and mahogany African wood especially imported from Cameron and Ivory Coast to build the ship.
The vessel has 5,500 light bulbs mounted in fitting which are covered with 24 carat Italian gold leaf. The gigantic 53,75 keel of the ship was laid on February 10, 1997, and it took its 200 shipbuilders a further three years to finally complete the construction of A1 Hashemi II on first of January, 2000. A1 Hashemi II was officially inaugurated on the March 29, 2000. Shortly after the inauguration A1 Hashemi II sailed to glory with its official entry into the Guinness book of records as the largest wooden dhow being in the world. Today, A1 Hashemi II which can accommodate up to 1,000 people, has become a prime venue for special functions such as wedding, conference in state dinners in Kuwait.
