Oman seeks $800m resort investment
Muscat: Oman has invited international investors to help build an $800 million resort, including a man-made island, in a bid to raise revenue from tourism.
Tourism Undersecretary Mohsin Al Balushi said the 7.3 km long beachfront resort near Muscat would include a marina with two condominium towers, a golf course, hotels, private apartments and villas.
Meridien in takeover

Dubai: Giorgio Armani and Emaar Properties have signed a letter of intent for the establishment of an innovative collection of Armani luxury hotels and resorts in Dubai, Milan and other major global cities, it was announced.
The Dubai 'Armani Hotel' will be located at Emaar Properties' new Burj Dubai development, the world's tallest residential and commercial building.
The letter of intent was signed by Giorgio Armani, chairman and chief executive of Giorgio Armani and Mohammed Ali Alabbar, chairman of Emaar Properties and Emaar Hotels and Resorts.
Resort adds 38 villas
Doha: Thirty-eight villas are now ready to receive guests at the Al-Ghariya Resorts, an exclusive seaside resort 75 km north of Doha, Qatar.
Set up on an artificial island and with waterfront for every individual villa, the resort offers an enjoyable holiday for those who want to take a break from the hectic city life.
Fully furnished ordinary, deluxe and super deluxe villas are available, a spokesman was quoted as saying.
