Out of thin air … Fairmont Bab Al Bahr’s water bottling plant will use advanced technology to produce water from air

WATER-FROM-AIR

Fairmont Bab Al Bahr’s water-from-air bottling plant is operational starting this month (April). A first of its kind in the United Arab Emirates, Fairmont Bab Al Bahr’s water bottling plant will use advanced technology to produce water from air. This air-to-water process utilises atmospheric water generator, an innovative solution developed by Eshara Water. Once produced, the water will be filtered and mineralised, and then filled into reusable, encapsulated glass bottles.

Serving a total of 367 luxurious rooms, suites and villas, as well as all restaurants across the hotel, the plant will produce a total of 4,000 litres of water per day. “The hospitality industry has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to sustainability, and we are proud to lead these efforts through this innovation.” Elias Chakhtoura, General Manager of Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, stated. “We are committed to promoting sustainable practices and reducing our environmental footprint, and this technology will allow our guests to experience a pleasant and responsible stay.”

By achieving zero single-use plastics, Fairmont Bab Al Bahr completes its existing initiatives to reduce carbon emissions, water and energy usage, waste and more.

HYDROPONIC FARM

W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island is committed to go green with the launch of its new Crysp Vertical Garden. The newest concept in vertical hydroponic farming, it will allow the property to grow many of its ingredients in-house in an eco-friendly way. With its partnership with Crysp, W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island will grow its own herbs and vegetables just a foot away from where they will be cooked.

By drastically reducing the lag between harvest and consumption, not only are Crysp products superior in terms of flavour and nutrition but also for zero spoilage purposes. While waste has an economic impact, it has a more serious impact on the environment, as the crop waste ends up in landfills where they emit methane gases, one of the key causes of global warming.
