Bahrain tourism traffic up 31pc in Q3

Bahrain witnessed a 31 per cent increase in tourism traffic in the third quarter of 2022 in comparison to the second quarter and most of its tourism KPIs showed improvement in Q3, it was revealed at a key meeting.

The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) board meeting, chaired by Minister of Tourism Fatima bint Jaafar Alsairafi, reviewed indicators for the last three months and tourism KPIs, said a Bahrain News Agency report.

There was significant improvement in average tourist nights, average visitor spending, total inbound tourism expenditures, and the number of visitors coming to the Kingdom for the purpose of tourism during Q3, it was announced.

The board was briefed on the progress in implementing the Tourism Strategy 2022–2026, in addition to the main BTEA projects launched during Q3.

The panel discussed the inauguration of the Exhibition World Bahrain and the detailed agenda of events and activities of Bahrain’s season of festivities, accompanied by tourism packages targeting many tourists from around the world and new partnerships inked with a number of companies.

Dr Nasser Qaedi, BTEA CEO, briefed the board on projects in the pipeline throughout the kingdom and the cruise updates for season 2023, along with the outcomes of Bahrain’s season of festivities launched throughout December 2022.

The meeting also discussed the marketing and promotions undertaken by BTEA in collaboration with its partners over the past three months.

The minister and the board expressed their satisfaction with the positive developments witnessed by the tourism sector during the year, which reflect the success of the initiatives and programmes undertaken by BTEA to strengthen Bahrain’s tourism sector, the report said.
