Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), the innovator in global cruise travel, sold out the NFT pieces for sale in its industry-first collection within 20 minutes of the launch of its new NFT Marketplace.

The collection was created by Manuel Di Rita, widely known as “Peeta,” the Italian artist who designed the hull art on the record-breaking Norwegian Prima and her sister vessel Norwegian Viva.

All proceeds from the NFT auction and primary sales will be donated to Teach For America.

Harry Sommer, President and Chief Executive Officer, Norwegian Cruise Line, said: "The Prima Class is the future of NCL, taking innovation and guest experiences out of this world... and into the metaverse! Art plays an important role in the guest experience across our fleet, and we are thrilled to add to our legacy of pioneering firsts with this venture into the world of NFTs."

Launching August 2022, Norwegian Prima will offer voyages to Northern Europe from Amsterdam; and Copenhagen, Denmark beginning September 3; and Caribbean itineraries from Galveston, Texas; Miami and Orlando beginning October 27.

Earlier this year, NCL announced that pop icon Katy Perry will serve as the godmother to Norwegian Prima, performing at the christening ceremony in Reykjavík, Iceland on August 27.
