Air Arabia, Lakson launch low–cost airline
LAKSON GROUP, one of Pakistan's leading business conglomerates, has joined hands with Air Arabia Group, a major low-cost carrier based in Sharjah, to launch its new budget airline, Fly Jinnah. The proposed JV will see the establishment of a low-cost passenger airline serving domestic and international routes from Pakistan.
Fly Jinnah will serve the strategic vision of Pakistan’s travel and tourism sector and contribute to the country’s economic growth and job creation, while providing Pakistanis with reliable and value for money air travel, it stated.
“Fly Jinnah” will initially be based in Karachi serving a range of domestic routes across Pakistan and then will expand its route network internationally. The new carrier will follow the low-cost business model and provide its customer base with a reliable operation and value-driven product, it added.
easyJet partner tests powerful new motor
EASYJET partner Wright Electric has announced that it has reached another key milestone along the way in the development and certification of its zero-emissions single-aisle aircraft, having now successfully produced and started testing a 2-megawatt electric powertrain motor – the most powerful electric propulsion motor of its kind in development and a key component for a zero-emission aircraft system. The news follows the successful testing of its next-generation inverter technology earlier this year.
Wright will now launch the next phase of development including integration with an in-house developed highly efficient inverter, high altitude chamber testing, and gathering testing data for future aircraft certification. Wright remains committed to pushing the development of the electric powertrain to meet the requirements of the aerospace community, with progressive development over the next two years. The company plans for ground testing in 2021 and 2022, and flight testing as early as 2023.
To achieve this, the company has also announced that it will be opening the dedicated Wright Laboratory and specialised motor test site. The site will be operational later this year.
Emirates to receive final A380 in November
EMIRATES will receive three more A380 aircraft from Airbus this year with its last unit on order scheduled to join its fleet in November, bringing forward the original delivery timeline from June 2022.
All three new A380s to be delivered will be fitted out with Emirates’ much lauded Premium Economy cabin as well as its latest A380 cabin interiors and signature features including private suites and Shower Spas in First Class, the popular Onboard Lounge, fully flat seats in Business Class, and the industry’s largest seatback screens for customers in all cabins to enjoy the airline’s extensive selection of entertainment content on ice.
These deliveries will bring Emirates’ total fleet of A380s to 118 units in November, including six aircraft equipped with Premium Economy seats in a 4-class configuration.
British Airways launches programme

The airline partnered with Airbus to paint one of its most modern, fuel-efficient A320neos in its new sustainability programme colours.
British Airways also announced a new collaboration with bp to source sustainable aviation fuel in respect of all its flights between London, Glasgow, and Edinburgh during the UK COP26 conference, providing a lifecycle carbon reduction of up to 80 per cent compared to the traditional jet fuel it replaces

We’re clear that we have a responsibility to reduce our impact on the planet and have a detailed plan to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050, including investing in more fuel-efficient aircraft, improving our operational efficiency, and investing in the development of sustainable aviation fuel and zero emissions aircraft.’
